  This is one of those places that only the locals understand. It's been around longer than I've been alive. I moved away from GB several years ago, but when I'm back in town I always stop here. This used to be part of the Taco Hut chain, but left that franchise several years ago. The food hasn't changed, though.
  
  The employees are very nice and friendly and if you like Tex Mex, the food is pretty good. It's not gourmet, but it's a taste of home. Yes, nostalgia plays a major part in the appeal of Great Bend Taco to the local population.
  
  Don't expect authentic Mexican food, because this is far from it. The closest comparisons I can come up with would be Taco John's or Taco Via. Still, I much prefer GB Taco.
  
  Despite my rose colored nostalgia glasses, I'm docking a star because GB Taco has really jacked up the prices on its menu. I don't think the portion/quality ratios justify the prices. A meal at GB Taco should not cost the same or more than an equivalent meal at a full service sit down restaurant like Playa Azul.
  
  Anyway, locals who grew up eating at this place don't need my review to sway you.
  
  For visitors to Great Bend, I would recommend giving GB Taco a try and see if you like it. It's not spicy and it's not authentic Mexican food, but it is fairly unique. My recommendation: 2 taco burgers with a side of chips and cheese.

  Order the Cheese covered Sancho. Its delicious! A large tortilla filled with seasoned crumbled beef, lettuce and tomatoes. It's covered with cheese and has a side of chips. So simple and so good. The tacos are also delicious. Nice simple atmosphere and the staff are always friendly.
